Submission Shark was founded in 2019 by Nathan Tam. After being known for creating inspiring and thought-provoking BJJ content on social media with over 20,000 community members, the next natural progression was to build a brand that embodies that energy.

BJJ Gis were developed and was instantly beloved by early collectors. With the addition of a complete BJJ gear line-up from Brazilian jiu-jitsu apparel, to no-gi gear and lifestyle apparel, Submission Shark has become a well-known BJJ brand.

Nathan Tam is a BJJ blue belt with over 5 years of training under his belt. He has been passionate about martial arts for over 14 years as he also has extensive experience in Muay Thai and boxing.

Nathan's journey with BJJ began after receiving head trauma from an violent encounter, leading him to use martial arts as a means of self-defense and personal growth rather than a competitive endeavor.

His creative spirit has led him to create Submission Shark with the intention to empower and inspire others through the art of BJJ. Nathan's vision for Submission Shark is to create a community that supports and uplifts each other, both on and off the mats.

After being gifted his first BJJ gi by his Muay Thai Kru, he has never looked back and is now a dedicated advocate for the sport of BJJ. Nathan Tam is dedicated in creating that same feeling of belonging and empowerment for all clients, customers and members of Submission Shark.
