Green tea is my favourite drink next to water. It is full of antioxidants and it’s easy and quick to prepare. It is regarded as one of the healthiest beverages on the planet. It’s known to decrease your risk of cancer and promotes longevity. However it does contain caffeine so it’s suggested to limit your intake at night. If you’re not a fan of the taste I suggest you try matcha green tea. It has a creamy flavor making you relaxed but aware. It also contains 4 times more EGCG, a compound that has been studied to treat many health conditions. Here are a few ways green tea can benefit your health.
1. GREEN TEA CAN HELP PREVENT NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASE
The caffeine content of green tea is less then coffee so it doesn’t make you jittery. Caffeine also protects the brain by increasing the effectiveness of neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine. The caffeine has synergistic effects with L-theanine another active compound in green tea causing anti-anxiety effects, improved memory and focus.
2. HELPS PREVENT CANCER
The anti-oxidant compound in green tea has been shown to lower your risk of cancer. Antioxidants are known for its ability to reverse free radical damage, a known cause of many different types of cancer
3. IMPROVES ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE AND HELPS BURN FAT
Green tea boosts your metabolism allowing your body to burn off harmful fat. The caffeine content also helps boosts energy allowing you to get through your next workout with full intensity.
4. IMPROVES DENTAL HEALTH
Consuming green tea can help your dental health because it kills off a strain called Streptococcus mutans. This strain of bacteria is known for causing cavities and tooth decay.
5. GREEN TEA CAN HELP YOU REDUCE YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
Green tea consumers have been shown to have improvements in lower total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL cholesterol. When LDL cholesterol particles become oxidized it is a risk factor for heart disease. The anti-oxidants in green tea can help fight off this potentially deadly process.
Green tea has many health benefits and has been proven to help you live longer. It’s highly recommend you drink some every day to feel the full benefits of this amazing beverage. It’s also a great replacement for coffee if you’re trying to switch to a more healthy supply of caffeine. Lower your chances of disease by having some green tea, you won’t regret it.
